1.1 MANAGING LEARNING POWER A SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPERATIVE
Lifelong Learning is the new mantra. It is has become the primary purpose of educators, employers and governments around the world as they work to address the challenges of life in a rapidly changing global environment.
None of us can avoid the impact of pandemics, of climate change, of the march of technology, of an ageing population, of political upheaval, of mass economic and ethnic migrations, of natural environmental and humanitarian disasters and of the powerful voice of an educated youth.
It is our personal Learning Power that enables us to manage the consequences of change. We have little alternative but to become adept at handling our changing role in society as we grow older and that is made all the more challenging as each new generation is called upon to make the decisions that will govern the lives of generations to come.
So, what is Learning Power? Can it be changed and improved? How does it equip our students for what they will inevitably face us as they go through life?
